Kate Johnson is a trained Postpartum Doula working in the Northeast Area of Los Angeles, California

Having a new child in your home is one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of life. No one should be alone in that transition. As your Postpartum Doula I offer support in those first few weeks of life. I will support your family with infant care instruction, lactation and feeding coaching, nourishing food and time to rest and enjoy your new child and new life. I am the extra set of hands when you need a moment to shower and the shoulder to cry on when you need to have a good releasing cry. New parenthood is overwhelming for even the most experienced parent and we all need all the support we can get. I believe in putting together a postpartum plan that sets up your family for your best personal success. All families are different and there is no one right way to take care of a child. I will work to establish what is best for your family and your individual child. I serve the community of Northeast Los Angeles; including Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, Glendale, Atwater Village, Highland Park, Glassell Park, La CaƱada, Eagle Rock, Los Feliz, Silverlake and Echo Park.

Services Offered

  • Newborn care can be overwhelming so I will offer guidance and education on all things baby. Diapering, bathing, feeding, swaddling and more. There is no question too big or too small. Parenting a newborn child is a lot of new information and is not just an intuitive practice. I am here to offer the support and guidance to give you the confidence to care for your child.

  • I offer support in all ways of feeding your baby. If you choose to breast/chest feed I can give guidance in latch and positioning techniques. If you are bottle feeding I can offer support in paced bottle feeding and resources to bottle brands. Not everyone is one or the other, some parents do both human milk and formula, breast/chest feeding and bottles. We can figure out what works best for your family.

  • I am there to offer support in both vaginal and surgical birth recovery. Emotionally it can be important to process your birth with someone that is willing to take the time to listen and hold space for you. Physically your body is going through huge changes and I am there to help you through all of that physical discomfort and healing.

  • A new baby is going to be a huge change for everyone in the home including the siblings. I offer support to all members of the household when you bring a new child into your house. I can assist in helping older siblings adjust to the new baby while also offering another set of hands and another source of attention for children that might be having a hard time adjusting to such a big change.

  • You deserve the time to focus all your energy on the newest member of your family. While I am in your home I will also be helping with infant laundry, light meal prep, snacks and lunches for siblings and light tidying up. The more space you have to be with your baby, the better.

I would love to support your family as you adjust to a new baby in your home.
